You are a student at a university, and you would like to take part in a volunteer group that helps new international students adjust to campus life. You saw a notice about the group on a campus board, but it did not include enough details about the activities or how students can become members.
Write an email to Richard Moss, the coordinator of the group. In your email, do the following:
- Explain why you are interested in joining the volunteer group
- Ask about the activities the group organizes
- Request information about how to become a member
Sample Answer
Hello Mr. Moss,
Yesterday afternoon I saw a notice about your group posted on the bulletin board in the student union group and I’d like to volunteer my time to help the group. This is an area that I’m really passionate about, as I am an international student myself. I came to study in Canada back in 2022, and I know how hard campus life can be at first.
Can you tell me what kind of activities the group organizes? I have experience arranging social events like camping and hiking in the region, so I bet I could help a lot if you run programs like those.
Would it be possible for you to send me some information about how to join the group? Should I contact you in person, or can I join online?
Thank you very much for your time,
Simon Biber
