Good news, everyone!  The TOEFL Special Home Edition can now be taken on a Macintosh computer.  Your computer must be running OS X 10.5 or later, and 10.13 (High Sierra) is recommended.  It is no longer necessary to have Windows installed on your Macintosh computer.

To get started, you should download the ETS browser and then run the Proctor U system check.  Early reports have indicated that some students have trouble with their microphone passing the system check, so I hope you guys can leave some feedback once you have tried it yourself.

when I want to run the ets browser on macOS Catalina I get the msg that :“ETS-RP-PROD” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software. Mac prevents it from running

Right-click on the app and choose “Open”. This allows you to open applications that were not downloaded via the Mac App Store.

i was able to download, but not open it after dragging to my applications. this is what it says. “ETS-RP-PROD” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software. This software needs to be updated. Contact the developer for more information.”

When I try to run the program on my MAC, all it does is say: Checking for updates…Please Wait. Can anyone help ?

Great, thank you for your help.

I was able to run the ETS browser but couldt “start record” the audio check. Is there anyone who had the same problem with me? or is it the problem that “some students have trouble with their microphone passing the system check” said in above??

I downloaded and opened the Programm in order to run the check. First of all, am I the only one who’s Mac is making a lot of noise and is getting really hot? It takes quite a while until the system checked everything. When the microphone finally appears and I have to speak it takes approximately 4 minutes until the microphone disappears again… by re-listening to the file it is sounds like there are various audio files running simultaneously…
Does anyone else has those problems ?
It would be great if someone can help me out!
