ETS has launched a variation of the TOEFL iBT called “TOEFL iBT Australia.” This version costs $159 in all markets (both offline and online) and test scores are sent automatically to the Department of Home Affairs. In addition to that agency, test takers can ONLY send scores to institutions in Australia. While this price applies to both at-home and test center administrations, the department only accepts tests taken at a test center for visa purposes.
The cost of taking the “regular” TOEFL iBT ranges from $185 to $450, depending on the country.
This is a great change. Competitive pricing always warms my heart, and I’ve spent years advocating for a fixed global fee for at-home testing. A fixed fee for the test center option is icing on the cake. Just note that this is being advertised as a “limited time” promotion.
Note: in some countries, the Australia Edition costs $179 (test center only) when I check. I don’t know if that is a bug or something else.
