Back in February (I think) Michigan Language Assessment published the 2025 MET Test Report

Most interesting to me are the reasons why people take the test. According to the report, at least 26.68% of test takers took it as part of having their nursing credentials recognized. That’s the number one category of test takers. It’s also up 11% since 2024. Regular readers might recall that I’ve written before about MLA’s success in marketing the test to health care professionals.

Just 0.38% of test takers took the test to meet Australian visa requirements. The test wasn’t accepted until August, but that’s still a small number which reminds us how important it is to avoid overstating the impact of regulatory changes.

The report concludes by noting that “[i]n 2025 the number of MET test takers increased.” That’s nice to hear, considering that most of the really large tests lost popularity in 2025.
